The status and the level of accreditation of the course in question is in the first instance a matter for consideration by the educational institution providing the course, working in conjunction with National Qualifications Authority of Ireland and the Society of Chartered Surveyors of Ireland; the latter has been designated under Part 5 of the Building Control Act 2007 as the registration body for Building Surveyors and as the relevant competent authority for purposes of EU Directive 2005/36/EC on the recognition of professional qualifications.

Section 43(2) of the Act of 2007 provides for the prescription of further educational bodies and courses in relation to the registration of Building Surveyors. No proposals of this nature are currently under consideration in my Department.
