Question 517: To ask the Minister for Justice and Equality the changes that will be made to the operation of Malahide Garda Station, County Dublin, now that it will not remain open 24 hours, in particular regarding opening hours and where persons detained outside these hours will be held. On the 30 April, 2012 the Garda Station at Malahide reduced its opening hours from 24 hours daily to being open to the public from 7.00 am. to 9.00 pm. It is important to remember that while the Garda station in question will have reduced opening hours to the public, it will remain as a functioning Garda station on a 24 hour basis. The precise location of where detained persons shall be held is an operational matter for the Garda Commissioner and I have no function in that matter.
