Question 72: To ask the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform if he will report on the progress made in designing a cloud computing strategy for the public service; when he will present such a strategy to the Government; and the role he envisages that ICT companies based in Ireland can play in the implementation of the strategy and the introduction of the technology required. My Department is working with the Public Service Chief Information Officer (CIO) Council on the development of the Cloud Computing Strategy for the public service. Drafting is under way. It is planned to bring the Strategy to Government in June for approval and publication. Considerable research on Cloud Computing approaches has already been done with ICT companies based in Ireland and it is clear that the implementation of the various strands of the Strategy should over time give these companies ample opportunities for business with public bodies.
