Question 111: To ask the Minister for Justice and Equality if he has met with the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation to discuss proposals for amalgamating responsibility for employment rights into one body leading to cases under the Equal Status Act 2000-2008 going to the District Courts by default; his views on this proposal. As already announced in the Public Service Reform Plan published by the Government on 17 November 2011, the Government has decided to rationalise the industrial relations / employee rights institutions into a single agency. Under this plan the Equality Tribunal will form part of a new Workplace Relations body. Detailed consideration of the practical arrangements to give effect to this decision is being progressed by my colleague, the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation. Further information in this regard will be communicated as soon as he is in a position to announce details.

I am not aware of any proposal that complaints taken under the Equal Status Acts would fall to the District Courts by default.
