Question 292: To ask the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government if he will set out, in respect of Government Departments, State controlled banks and State agencies, any contracts for the provision of services by a company (details supplied); if he will quantify the value of such contracts and set out the safeguards in place to avoid conflicts should that company set out to buy the assets of State controlled banks. My Department has no contracts with the company referred to in the Question. Contracts entered into by agencies under the aegis of my Department are a matter for the agencies themselves. Contracts for goods and services are awarded by my Department either on the basis of the lowest priced tender or the most economic advantageous tender (specifying, in addition to price, various other criteria including running costs, servicing costs, level of after sales service, technical assistance, technical merit, environmental characteristics).
