Question 410: To ask the Minister for Social Protection the reason a person (details supplied) in County Wicklow was refused rent allowance on the basis of failing the habitual residence test despite never having lived abroad and being an Irish citizen; if she will direct that this anomaly is rectified as soon as possible; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The person concerned was primarily refused rent supplement due to a failure to provide sufficient supporting documentation. The reference to habitual residence was entered incorrectly. The Department has issued the person concerned with an application pack in order to facilitate the payment of rent supplement. No new information has been received from the client to date.
