Question 701: To ask the Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht in view of the fact that planning permission has been granted for the construction of terminal buildings and associated works at Clifden and Inishbofin airstrips, when he expect work to commence on both these projects and when he anticipates that the airstrips will be open for use to the public. My Department has retained consultants to undertake the next step in the process of developing terminal buildings at the airstrips on Inishbofin Island and at Cleggan in Co. Galway. This includes the detailed design and costing for the project. It is envisaged that this stage will be completed shortly.
The Deputy will appreciate that it would be premature to address the issue of air services until the processes relating to the terminal buildings have been brought to a conclusion.
