I propose to take Questions Nos. 63 and 587 together. The HSE has stated that between 1 July 2011 and 29 February 2012 Primary Care Reimbursement Service received 450,306 applications and renewals for medical cards. 39,552 of these renewal applications were from people over 70 years of age and 300,251 were from people under 70 years of age. In total, 226 cases of those over 70 and 4,118 cases of those under 70 were assessed as being unsuccessful.
