Question 22: To ask the Minister for Health if he will instruct the Health Service Executive to develop a national transfer pool for paramedic staff which will enable the movement of paramedic staff between ambulance regions in view of the fact that, currently, such staff must resign their positions if they wish to apply to a vacancy in a region other than their own (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. I am informed by the HSE that the Director of the National Ambulance Service has recently responded to representations in relation to this case. The individual concerned has been informed that the HSE and relevant trade unions have recently agreed a National Framework Agreement – National Transfer Policy and Procedures. Consequently, the individual has been advised to discuss this matter with his immediate Line Supervisor in the first instance.
