Question 571: To ask the Minister for Health the entitlements qualifying patients in private nursing homes have to medical supplies and treatments in private nursing homes; if these entitlements differ to those patients who are in public nursing homes; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Patients in private nursing homes can avail of the range of services and prescribed items supplied under the General Medical Services Scheme, the Drug Payment Scheme and the Long Term Illness Scheme in the same manner as other patients and in accordance with their eligibility status.

There is no statutory obligation on the HSE to provide physiotherapy, chiropody, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, or dietician services to patients.
