In meetings with the women concerned and associated groups, it has been stressed that there is no statute of limitations in this jurisdiction for serious criminal offences and that if they have been the victim of an offence, they should report the matter to the Gardaí for criminal investigation. There are no monetary costs to a victim as such associated with a Garda criminal investigation and prosecution.
