The information requested by the Deputy in respect of the National Educational Welfare Board, the Family Support Agency, the Adoption Authority of Ireland and the Office of the Ombudsman for Children is as follows:

National Educational Welfare Board (NEWB)

€4.953m was spent on basic salary costs during 2011 covering 102 people. During 2011, a total of €52,162 was spent on acting-up allowances (4 people) and €266,234 was spent on travel and subsistence incurred by 91 people. A breakdown by pay grade and salary band is set out below.

I would like to inform the Deputy that the position in respect of my Department is that four agencies are funded by the Exchequer through my Department's Vote. These are the Adoption Authority of Ireland (AAI), the Family Support Agency (FSA), the National Educational Welfare Board (NEWB) and the Ombudsman for Children. With effect from 1 January 2012, I have taken responsibility for the children detention schools as provided in Part 10 of the Children Act 2001. They are also funded through my Department's Vote and I am responsible for the appointment of their Board of Management.

There is no Board of Management for the Ombudsman for Children.

I have set out in the following table a list of Board memberships for 2011 and the remuneration received for each individual:
