I refer the Deputy to my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 179 on 16 February last. The matter remains under consideration. As stated in my response to Parliamentary Question No. 139 on 8th February, 2012, the Government has charged the inter-departmental committee with clarifying any State interaction with the Magdalen institutions and producing a narrative detailing such interaction. There are presently no plans to expand its brief beyond those institutions. The Deputy can be assured however that every consideration is being given to issues relating to the former Bethany Home and how they might be addressed. I regret that I cannot be more specific at this time but it is my intention to give a full consideration to this important matter.
