Question 481: To ask the Minister for Justice and Equality the total cost of the Garda dog unit, Garda mounted unit and the Garda water unit in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 separately; if he will provide a breakdown in tabular form of the various categories of spending and their corresponding cost in each of these years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The provision and deployment of Garda resources, including specialist units, is a matter for the Garda Commissioner. I am informed by the Garda authorities that the costs of the Garda Dog Unit, the Garda Mounted Unit and the Garda Water Unit for the years requested by the Deputy were as set out in the following tables:
