Question 548: To ask the Minister for Justice and Equality the cost of the office holders Garda car pool in the period relating to 1 June 2011 to 31 December 2011, salaries paid to Garda drivers, subsistence and travel expenses paid to Garda drivers, car costs and other related costs and to provide this information in a tabular form with a breakdown between those office holders entitled to a car, the information should include any payment made in 2012 related to a 2011 claim. Under the new arrangements for Office Holder transport, Garda cars and drivers were withdrawn from former Presidents and Taoisigh with effect from 16 June 2011 but official transport may be provided to them on important State occasions.
