Question 277: To ask the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform the reason a person (details supplied) had their employment terminated by the Office of Public Works when other individuals at the same grade with the same length of experience were retained; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The person in question completed his apprenticeship and was released on the 2nd November, 2011. In any circumstances, the Office of Public Works can only retain what apprentices it requires to meet operational needs. However, since the introduction of the Government moratorium on recruitment it has not been possible to retain any apprentices on completion of their contract.
