Question 100: To ask the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform the total numbers of public servants who have applied for early retirement who fall into the following age groups: those aged 50 - 54 on their retirement date, those aged 55 - 60 on their retirement date; if he will present the data broken down by Government Department and agencies thereof; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I presume the Deputy is referring to the Cost Neutral Early Retirement (CNER) scheme under which staff may apply to retire before the normal retirement age but to have an off-setting actuarial reduction applied to their retirement benefits. In the case of the Civil Service, the data sought by the Deputy is set out in the tables below for 2011 and 2012. In the case of the wider public service, the information required by the Deputy is not held centrally and should be sought from each of the relevant sectoral Ministers.
