Question 89: To ask the Minister for Education and Skills the reason the board of management of a school has not engaged with the TUI in the matter of the grievance procedure involved on behalf of its member (details supplied) as per the agreed procedures between the TUI, ASTI and ACCS; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The grievance procedures are agreed between the school management bodies and the teacher unions. The Department of Education and Skills is not a party to these procedures and so it cannot intervene in their operation. Non-compliance with the procedures should be brought to the attention of the school's board of management, as the employer, in the first instance. The board may thereafter wish to seek advice from the relevant management body.
