Question 179: To ask the Minister for Justice and Equality when he will be more specific about the commitment in his reply to Question No. 139 of 8 February 2012, from Deputy Dowds, with regard to the appropriateness and practicality of addressing issues related to the former Bethany Home, Dublin, in a satisfactory manner. As stated in my response to Parliamentary Question No. 139 of 8 February, 2012, the Government has charged the inter-departmental committee with clarifying any State interaction with the Magdalen institutions and producing a narrative detailing such interaction. There are presently no plans to expand its brief beyond those institutions. The Deputy can be assured, however, that every consideration is being given to issues relating to the former Bethany Home and how they might be addressed. I regret that I cannot be more specific at this time but it is my intention to give a full consideration to this important matter.
