Question 235: To ask the Minister for Health the position regarding medical card applications online when a person needs to be assessed urgently due to an illness; if he or she can forward the medical information online and be assessed for medical reasons; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Health Service Executive has confirmed to me that where a person has an urgent acute need for a medical card, there is a dedicated contact in the Primary Care Reimbursement Service to facilitate urgent assessment of any such application. Details of this contact should be available to all GPs and consultant medical doctors.
