Question 235: To ask the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs if there are any plans to allow civil partners adopt and to be considered as joint adoptive parents; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [3178/12]

Under the provisions of the Adoption Act, 2010, the only persons who can jointly adopt are married couples. There are currently no proposals to change the legislation in this regard.
