The range of complex issues associated with the possible introduction of a system of Statutory Sick Pay will be the subject of a consultation process with stakeholders with a view to assessing the feasibility and potential impacts of such a scheme. No decisions in relation to this matter will be taken by Government before this consultation process, which will commence in February of this year, is concluded.

In the interim, the arrangements governing entitlement to Illness Benefit for employees, including employees working in childcare provision, are unchanged.
