Question 294: To ask the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform if he will report on the progress to reverse the restrictive amendments placed, in 2003, on the Freedom of Information Act. [1267/12]

My Department is at an advanced stage in the preparation of the General Scheme of a Bill to give effect to the commitments in the Programme for Government in relation to Freedom of Information. Subject to Government approval I expect to be in a position to introduce the necessary legislative measures to give effect to these commitments over the first half of the year.
