Question 496: To ask the Minister for Justice and Equality the position regarding the criminal investigation currently under way in respect of practices at particular national car test centres, as highlighted earlier this year in a television programme (details supplied); if he will inform Dáil Éireann when the Garda is expected to conclude its investigation; when a decision on whether to pursue criminal charges will be determined; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I am informed by the Garda authorities that the Garda investigation into the matters referred to by the Deputy is ongoing. When the investigation is completed, an investigation file will be submitted to the Law Officers for a decision regarding what criminal charges, if any, are to be preferred. The Deputy will appreciate that it would therefore be inappropriate for me to comment further at this time.
