Question 343: To ask the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government if he will give his assurance that the registration fee for architects, building surveyors and quantity surveyors, as outlined in the Building Control Act 2007, sections 17(1), 31(1) and 45(1), will be used solely for the purpose of registering an applicant with the relevant registration body and that no element of the registration fee will be used for membership fees or other administrative costs of the registration bodies. The statutory position is set down at subsection 62(4) of the Building Control Act 2007 which provides that a registration fee must not in any case exceed the combined costs of providing the registration service and any reasonable charges incurred in collecting, accounting for and administering the fee.
