Question 203: To ask the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform if he would consider advancing the lump sum payment to those who took advantage of the early retirement scheme, particularly for those whose personal circumstances mean they are in financial difficulty; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The scheme to which the Deputy refers is the Incentivised Scheme of Early Retirement as promulgated in Circular 12/09. The terms of the scheme provide that the balance of the retirement lump sum will be payable upon the retiree reaching his/her normal preserved pension age. There is no provision in the scheme to allow payment to be brought forward.
