Question 78: To ask the Minister for Education and Skills if funding for a permanent additional classroom will be provided for a school (details supplied) in County Galway instead of the rental of a prefab classroom for an indefinite period, which has been approved, in view of the modest cost of construction compared to the long-term cost of the rented prefab. My Department agreed in principle to an application by the school, referred to by the Deputy, for additional accommodation on the basis of an expected increase in enrolments and an associated increase in the teaching staffing numbers. However as the teaching post concerned has not been approved due to the projected increase in enrolments not materialising, the approval conveyed to the school in respect of the additional accommodation has been withdrawn. The school has been advised accordingly.
