Question 196: To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if he or Irish Rail will be conducting an investigation into the way the scaffolding and associated refurbishment works on the railway bridge over the Dodder River near Lansdowne Road, Dublin, contributed to the flooding of nearby homes due to the collection of tree branches and other debris on the overhanging structure not ordinarily in place there (details supplied), resulting in river waters accumulating and breaching the flood walls along the river bank; the contribution that will be made to rectify the financial damage visited on the local residents due to the presence of these works; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport I have responsibility for policy and overall funding in relation to public transport. Noting this I have referred the Deputy's question to Iarnrod Eireann for direct reply. Please advise my private office if you don't receive a reply within 10 working days.
