The Office for Disability and Mental Health participated in the development by the Department of the Environment, Community & Local Government of a Housing Strategy for People with Disabilities which has a particular emphasis on the housing needs of people with mental health difficulties. This Strategy was published on 6 October 2011. Five meetings were held during 2011.

Three meetings of the Cross Sectoral Team on Health & Justice were held in 2011. That team was established to bring about improvements in services for people with mental health difficulties who come into contact with the criminal justice system, and during the course of 2011, a protocol was put in place regarding the provision of Consultant psychiatric support by the HSE to the Gardai in emergency incidents.
