The community welfare service (CWS) and the community welfare officers providing it transferred formally to the Department of Social Protection (DSP) from 1 October 2011. The service and staff are now part of the DSP. The Department's representative administering the supplementary welfare allowance scheme refused the person's rent allowance application on the grounds that her accommodation needs are being provided for by Youghal Town Council. The person concerned was advised of this decision and of her right of appeal if dissatisfied.
