Concerns had been raised with the NSMC Joint Secretariat by Clones Town Council and Monaghan County Council about illegal driving practices on a stretch of the N54/A3 Clones to Cavan Road. Joint Secretariat officials have consulted with relevant Departments, agencies and the police services in both jurisdictions on the matter. The conclusion was that this is a matter for the police services who, I understand, have taken actions to deal with the matter which have had some success. Local councils are advised to continue to liaise with the police services in dealing with this problem.
