Question 69: To ask the Minister for Justice and Equality the position regarding an admission by the Courts Service that an error was made by backdating a High Court order in the case of a person (details supplied); the modalities to correct such an acknowledged error and to ensure that the person's rights, which could have been negatively impacted by such a mistake, were restored; how he will facilitate same; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I understand that the individual concerned has commenced proceedings in the High Court in relation to this matter and in the circumstances it would be inappropriate for me as Minister for Justice and Equality to comment on a matter before the Courts. Furthermore, the Courts are, subject to the Constitution and the law, independent in the exercise of their judicial functions. Accordingly, I cannot intervene in any way in relation to a particular case.
