e Government has prioritised the reform of our mental health services in line with A Vision for Changethe Report of the Expert Group on Mental Health Policy (2006) and Reach Out - the National Strategy for Action on Suicide Prevention 2005 – 2014. is commitment was clearly shown in the Programme for Government which provides for the ring-fencing of €35 million annually from within the overall health budget to develop community mental health services and to implement Reach Out. This is currently being considered as part of the Estimates process for 2012 and future years. Any increases in funding for the National Office for Suicide Prevention (NOSP) will be decided in this context.
