Question 387: To ask the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government if he is satisfied that the electoral law, in regard to election material that it is an offence to print posters, leaflets and so on without an imprint, is being enforced; if there have been any prosecutions in regard to same; if any candidates have not had a refund of election expenses for failing to have the imprint; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Electoral legislation provides for a wide range of offences including a requirement to show on the face of every notice, bill, poster or similar document relating to an election or referendum, the name and address of the printer and of the publisher of such documents. Enforcement of the law is a matter for An Garda Síochána and I understand that the Minister for Justice and Equality has sought a report from the Garda on this issue. There is no link between the electoral offence referred to and the reimbursement of a candidate's election expenses.
