Question 565: To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if he will confirm that town and county councils will have to pay for the salt they receive from the National Roads Authority; and if this cost will correspond with the costs accrued by the NRA in acquiring the salt. [29741/11]

The arrangements for the purchase and distribution of salt are a matter for the National Roads Authority (NRA). Noting the above position, I have referred the Deputy's question to the NRA for direct reply. Please advise my private office if you do not receive a reply within 10 working days.
