Question 353: To ask the Minister for Justice and Equality when a decision will be made on the authorisation of a Garda compensation claim in respect of a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary; the reason for the delay in finalising this claim; if there is any accountability in terms of the length of time it has taken for the consultant psychiatrist to complete his report; his views that this delay is acceptable; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I can confirm to the Deputy that an application for compensation under the Garda Compensation Acts 1941 to 1945 has been made by the person concerned. I understand that the final report of the Chief Medical Officer is awaited. A decision will be taken in this case as soon as that report is received.
