Question 489: To ask the Minister for Justice and Equality the cost of repairing Garda mountain bikes for the years 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and to date in 2011; if bikes are insured for theft, damage or fire; if bikes are sent to either Garda Headquarters or the Garda Training College when in need of repairs; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I am informed by the Garda authorities that data in relation to the cost of repairing Garda mountain bikes are not readily available as they are not compiled centrally. I am further advised that Garda mountain bikes are not insured and that they are not sent to Garda Headquarters, the Garda Training College or any other central location for repairs.
