Question 475: To ask the Minister for Justice and Equality if complaints have been received by him regarding public works potentially being carried out by contractors operating in the black economy; the number of complaints that were upheld; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I can inform the Deputy that having made the necessary enquiries in relation to this matter, my Department has no record of any such complaints. The Deputy may wish to note however that all contractors undertaking works, which are paid for out of public monies, are obliged to be tax compliant and have to produce a current tax clearance certificate before payment can be made for such work.
