Question 176: To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if, the salary in the new contract for the CEO of Dun Laoghaire Harbour Company, due to be signed in March 2012, will be set at a maximum of €110,569 in line with the new salary range for newly appointed chief executive officers of commercial State sponsored bodies; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Government decided in June this year to impose new pay ceilings for CEOs of State agencies. These salary arrangements will apply to new CEOs appointed from that date. The Government decision will also apply to incumbents whose contracts are extended beyond the maximum period of their existing contract.
The Government recognises that in a small number of cases exceptions may be necessary where a role is of substantial importance and the appointee brings exceptional or scarce expertise and/or qualifications to that role. No consideration has been given to such in the case of Dun Laoghaire Harbour Company.
