Question 384: To ask the Minister for Justice and Equality if he has any administrative role in overseeing or co-ordinating inquiries undertaken by Departments regarding matters of grave public concern; if, as a matter of course, he requires that his office be notified of changes to the operation of such inquiries; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I can confirm to the Deputy that as Minister for Justice and Equality, I do not have a role in overseeing or co-ordinating inquiries undertaken by other Government Departments. Government operates as a collective entity. When significant issues of co-ordination arise, it is generally agreed at Cabinet which Minister or Department should undertake an oversight or leadership role.
