Question 408: To ask the Minister for Justice and Equality if the final cost of the visits of Queen Elizabeth II and President Obama of €36 million have a major impact on the budget for the Garda in crime investigation action and in front-line policing; and if he will make a statement on the matter. While the costs associated with the visits of Queen Elizabeth II and President Obama were significant, I am satisfied that the policing and security measures put in place by the Garda Síochána were appropriate. These costs are being managed to ensure that overall Garda services are maintained and they will be settled through ongoing discussions between myself and the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform.
