Question 384: To ask the Minister for Justice and Equality the position regarding the review of upward-only rent reviews; his plans for dealing with this issue; the number of meetings he has had with the Attorney General in this regard; when he plans to bring proposals to Cabinet; and when he will make a public announcement on same. As the Deputy will be aware, the Programme for Government indicates that legislation will be introduced to end upward only rent reviews for existing leases. Following on from an initial consultation process with the Attorney General, I have recently forwarded outline proposals to her for further examination and development.
Those proposals have been the subject of preliminary discussion by Government, and will be considered further in the autumn when the work in relation to them should be at a more advanced stage.
