Question 433: To ask the Minister for Health if he has considered the role of the Health Service Executive in the provision of housing services; if he would agree with the need for single housing agencies within local authority areas that can deal completely with the housing needs of persons in the locality, and that will eliminate any potential for duplication of service; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government and local authorities have statutory responsibility for the provision of housing services in Ireland. Local authorities identify and address social housing need, through a range of community based accommodation options and related housing supports, and the HSE and its partner agencies arrange health and personal social care supports appropriate to the individual service user's needs.
