Question 465: To ask the Minister for Justice and Equality in view of the fact that all stages of planning have been completed for the provision of a new divisional and regional headquarters for Galway, if funding will be allocated for the construction of this Garda station; when construction will commence; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The programme of replacement and refurbishment of Garda accommodation around the country is based on agreed priorities established by An Garda Síochána and it is progressed in close co-operation with the Office of Public Works (OPW), who have responsibility for the provision and maintenance of Garda accommodation.

It is also the position that Garda capital building projects, including that referred to by the Deputy, are financed from the Vote of the OPW. In this context, I have been informed that the provision of the new Divisional Headquarters in Galway will be progressed in the light of An Garda Síochána's identified accommodation priorities and the resources available to the OPW.
