Universities and Institutes of Technology are autonomous academically independent institutions within the meaning of the Universities Act, 1997 and the Institutes of Technology Act, 2006. Under the terms of these Acts the operational management of the institutions, including the recruitment and appointment of staff, is the responsibility of their management authorities.
