Question 362: To ask the Minister for Health the annual sums spent by the Health Service Executive in each of the past five years on fluoridation of the public water supply under the Health (Fluoridation of Water Supplies) Act 1960; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16244/11]

The estimated annual expenditure by the HSE on fluoridation is as follows:

2006 €3.25 million

2007 €3.39 million

2008 €3.56 million

2009 €3.9 million

2010 €4.78 million

The costs include hydrofluorosilicic acid - the chemical used for fluoridating water, operational and some minor capital costs.
