Question 137: To ask the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government when he will announce approval of an application by Kildare County Council to award a contract for the construction of a new sewerage collection network at Kildare town; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Water Services Investment Programme 2010 – 2012, a copy of which is available in the Oireachtas Library, provides for the development of a comprehensive range of new water services infrastructure in County Kildare. Two contracts for the Kildare Sewerage Scheme are included in the Programme amongst the list of contracts in the county to start in the period 2010 – 2012.
The Wastewater Treatment Plant Design/Build/Operate contract for the Kildare Sewerage Scheme is currently at construction. Kildare County Council's contract documents for the sewer network contract are under examination in my Department and a decision will be conveyed to the Council as soon as possible.
