Question 518: To ask the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food the reason there is a delay regarding veterinary practices acquiring licences for medicines to treat livestock, in some cases is taking a practice more than six months to obtain a licence; and if he will make a statement on the matter. There are no delays in terms of issuing exceptional licences for veterinary medicines by my Department in respect of its area of competence. I understand that the medicine in question is for treatment of fish and that it already has, in fact, a marketing authorisation from the Irish Medicines Board and as such there is no prohibition on it being placed on the Irish market.
