Question 399: To ask the Minister for Justice and Equality if he will confirm the number of credit cards issued by him and to whom; the criteria for issuing such cards; the credit card company used; if a competitive process was used to select the company; if the facility has had to be withdrawn from any person; and if he will make a statement on the matter. There are currently thirteen credit cards in use in Vote 19 (Office of the Minister for Justice and Equality) operated through Allied Irish Banks, who has been the service provider for a number of years. Credit cards are issued to a small number of senior officials and areas where specific business reasons exist for their use, such as certain types of procurement transactions. The level of expenditure incurred through credit cards is a very small proportion of overall expenditure in the Department.
