Question 166: To ask the Minister for Health and Children when a person (details supplied) in County Cork who has been referred to the orthopaedic department at Cork University Hospital will be given an appointment; if consideration will be given to the patients age and deteriorating condition as notified by their general practitioner; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The management of hospital services generally, including outpatient waiting lists, is a matter for the Health Service Executive and the individual hospitals concerned. Therefore, the Executive is the appropriate body to consider the particular case raised by the Deputy. My Department has requested the Parliamentary Affairs Division of the Executive to arrange to have the case investigated and to reply directly to the Deputy.
